# Software ID

The Software ID is a unique identifier used to distinguish each subscription or instance of software.  It is automatically generated by the system during the [payroll setup](/getting-started/setting-up-payroll.md) and you must [register it with the ATO](/getting-started/register-payroll-provider.md) before submitting reports.

In seSQue Payroll the Software ID can be found at the subscription level:
