# Software ID

The Software ID is a unique identifier used to distinguish each subscription or instance of software.  It is automatically generated by the system during the [payroll setup](https://docs.sesque.com/getting-started/setting-up-payroll) and you must [register it with the ATO](https://docs.sesque.com/getting-started/register-payroll-provider) before submitting reports.

In seSQue Payroll the Software ID can be found at the subscription level:
